We're Back

After a long absence, the HtH forum is back online. We were getting so many spam registrations we had to shut down the forum. Then it has taken several weeks to get the problem fixed. We had to update the phpbb program, which was complicated. We had a web design company do this, and reinstall the fo...

Thank you for your posts, Judy. Good thoughts. Inventory is always a hard process, and being honest is so important if the inventory is to do us good.

A Testimony of Christ

At the Heart t' Heart online meeting this morning, I shared the following: Before I came to Heart t' Heart, I thought I had a relationship with Jesus, but I really didn't know what that meant. I thought that with someone as high and exalted as He was, that one could only expect a kind of distant, no...

I don't know of a book that talks about surrendering exclusively, but Heart t' Heart's list of approved literature includes several 12 step books that include a lot about surrendering. I would recommend: He Did Deliver Me From Bondage Clean Hands, Pure Heart AA's Big Book 12 Steps and 12 Traditions ...

Paul says: 13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. (Philippians 2:13) I find that I need the Savior's power (grace) to give me both the ability to do what is right, and the will (willingness) or desire to do it. Sometimes I have known what was right, but I ...

I agree with your use of the word "active" in describing our part of connecting with the Savior. He is always there, but we must seek him, reach out to him. He is always available, but he leaves it up to us to initiate contact except in rare occasions. Satan, on the other hand, is active in trying t...

I think your wife is very wise. It's interesting to see how the Lord tells us the truth--sometimes directly, sometimes through others. I have also had to catch myself using "weasel words" that minimize or obscure the reality of just how serious my addiction is and just how committed to recovery and ...

I find that writing is a very powerful tool to connect me with the Lord and with my better self. It give ms a chance to slow down my thoughts and choose the ones that help me and let go of the ones that pull me down. My experience is that the Lord is always willing to help us. It takes a lot of fait...

Stephen, I'm so glad you wrote here. It's such a help to share this burden with each other. I'm sorry for the pain you have been experiencing, but I can say I understand it and relate to it in my own life. This addiction is really the pits, isn't it? It is so discouraging to fight this over and over...

Sharing in Heart t' Heart Meetings

I led the online meeting this morning, and was the only one who came (until the meeting was essentially over). So after posting the reading and sharing on it, I posted the following comments on sharing at HtH meetings: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Since I am still the only one here, I want to say a word about...

How do you do step 7?

In response to the question, How does one surrender their character defects to the Lord in Step 7, I was given the following: The steps are progressive. Each step prepares you for the ones to follow. If you have done a thorough job of inventorying your past and identifying the character weaknesses t...

A Broader Use of Step 10

I want to share on Step 10. I find it is so important to continue to do inventory on my life, and where I am, especially in relationship to my Savior. In the past, I have thought about step 10 as something I need when I have slipped up, or come close to it. Or when I have had a particularly difficul...

Talking with Jesus

In the Thursday meeting we have been reading Clean Hands, Pure Heart. We are now in Appendix A, which is about developing our relationship with the Savior. The section we are now reading deals with prayer to the Father and counseling with the Son. Quote from CHPH: A particularly plain example of the...

On the Mighty Change of heart

At the online meeting this morning, I shared the following on step 7. I would like to share on steps 6 & 7. The surrender process begins in step 3, and I try to keep the principle of surrender foremost in my mind. But there is something about the wording of step 7 that is an important key for me. 7....

On Coming to Know the Savior

This was my sharing from the online meeting this morning. Before I started coming to Heart t' Heart, and reading and hearing the testimony of others, I had no idea how close a relationship I could have with my Savior. I thought there had to be some distance between us, because of my unworthiness, or...
